The Cabinet meeting that sat yesterday at State House agreed to cancel the process of sending the Covid-19 relief fund meant to be sent to vulnerable people starting on Wednesday this week. The cancellation came about as a result of the fake names on the lists that were sent to the villages from the offices of the Town Clerks in the respective districts.

The President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni directed the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) to check the validity of those names on the lists distributed in three days starting today. It was noted that of the 150,000 people on the list in Kampala District, only 4,000 people were found as legitimate to receive the Covid-19 fund.

The Lord Mayor of Kampala, Elias Lukwago reiterated that what has happened was bound to manifest itself because the government did not have faith in the local leaders who were elected by the masses in compiling these lists.
