Vipers SC Unveils Brazilian Coach

Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC have on Friday afternoon unveiled Roberto Oliveira Gonçalves do Carmo as their new head coach.

The appointment ends a series of stories about the club’s next coach within both mainstream and online media.

Mike Mutebi, the former KCCA FC gaffer who has been without a club since March 29, 2021, was strongly linked to the job.

Robertinho as commonly known, 60, played at Fluminense, Flamengo and Palmeiras among other clubs in Brazil Serie A.

He has coached Fluminense among other clubs, and had stints in Africa with Stade Tunisien and Rayon Sports.

The new coach at Kitende joins after former head coach Fred Kajoba departed the club on May 31.

Then, Paul Kiwanuka was put in temporary charge but the season was eventually ended due to Covid19 and the Venoms finished the season in third behind eventual champions Express and URA FC.

He joins a list of foreign tacticians to have coached the Venoms including Javier Martinez and Miguel Duarte Da Costa.
