The police have responded to an incident in which one individual known as Nalubega Joan Nalongo, 23, a resident of Kimanya B LCI, Kimanya ward, Kimanya Kabonera Division in Masaka city was stabbed to death saying that it was an act of domestic violence and not connected to the recent kijambiya murders.
According to a police statement dated Thursday 2nd, the victim was stabbed in the neck with a broken beer bottle, and she bled to death.
The two first had a quarrel from their drinking joint that ended in a fight after they got home.
“An unfortunate incident in which Nalubega Joan Nalongo, 23, a resident of Kimanya ”B” LCI, Kimanya ward, Kimanya Kabonera Division in Masaka city, was killed last night by her husband, identified as Moze following a domestic fight,” Muhammed Nsubuga the Masaka region spokesperson said.
“The victim was stabbed in the neck with a broken beer bottle, and she bled to death. The two first had a quarrel from their drinking joint that ended in a fight after they got home.”
In addition, he said the team led by the region OC station was able to run to the scene immediately after receiving the information at 3 am but found when the victim had died.
Nsubuga urged the public to disregard any allegations that the murder was linked to one of the many recent vicious killings by panga wielding assailants.
“They arrested the suspect and also conveyed the body of the deceased to Masaka Referral hospital for a postmortem. Further investigations are on going,” Nsubuga added.
This however comes at a time when the police have since arrested close to 20 suspects who form part of the criminal gang behind the murderous rampage in Lwengo and Masaka districts.
Fred Enanga the police spokesperson earlier this week said most of the suspects are residents embedded within the community in Lwengo and Masaka. They all admitted to participating in the multiple slaying of their targeted victims,” Enanga said.
Days after Enanga’s comments, the police has released a picture of one individual who is on the run after he attempted to murder a woman in Masaka.
“The suspect in the attached picture is wanted for attempted murder and causing gracious body injuries to Nakyanzi Maria Yosefu’s whose hands he chopped off, in Kyotera last night. He is on the run, and we appeal to the community to report and/or inform the nearest police if seen,” the police statement read.
